Mayfield Community Training Centre offers six core courses:

  • Business Skills
  • Construction Skills
  • Culinary Skills
  • Multi Skills
  • Sports & Recreation
  • Tourism & Hospitality

Additional classes in Art, Gym, Communications, Maths and Personal Development are also a part of the learners’ timetable. Each course lasts for twelve months with periods set aside for work experience.

A training allowance is paid to each trainee regardless of age. Normal opening hours at the Centre are Monday to Thursday 8:45 to 4:45 and Friday 9:00 to 1:00.

Advocate Services

The Advocate Service offers career advice for Learners in the centre and helps them develop a career plan. The Advocate offers career guidance and support from the induction stage to post course tracking. The service provides help with work experience placements and progression onto future courses, as well as finding employment and researching grant options.

Work Experience

 

Trainees will have the opportunity to enhance their employment chances through a work experience placement programme that lasts up to six weeks.

Potential applicants are advised to call to the centre in person to fill in an application form. Recruitment is by interview with the relevant instructor.

Who should Apply?

The courses are open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 21 who have a genuine interest in training and wish to improve their career prospects
